MANURE SPILL RESPONSE NETWORK


The Spill Response Network is designed to be part of a nutrient management emergency or contingency plan.

The idea is simple. If you have a spill, then an owner of a vacuum tanker could be contacted to help with cleanup and reduce the risk of manure (or any other hazardous material) from entering a watercourse. Being proactive would mean adding the phone number of a vacuum tanker owner to your contingency plan and having the reference numbers close at hand in case of an emergency. In the past this has saved producers from potential fines from the Ministry of the Environment.

If you have a vacuum tanker (any brand) that you would be willing to add to this list, then in the case of a spill a person can contact your listed number. JUST BECAUSE YOUR NAME IS ON THE NETWORK DOES NOT MAKE IT MANDATORY TO RESPOND TO A SPILL IF YOUR SCHEDULE DOESN’T ALLOW.

If, as an owner of a vacuum tanker, you were called to a spill there would be an assumed charge just for coming to the location of a spill with the tanker, and then an additional hourly charge for the cleanup period.
